We find ourselves unerringly drawn to the wines of the southern Rhocircne not only for the evident value for money that these wines represent, but also because the growers of this delightful region are just plain lucky! Any Bordelais in possession of the merest moiety of his marbles must be looking enviously south and wondering why he should not desert the cold and damp and move to a place where winemaking is a pleasure. For the Rhocircne, their 2002 harvest was diluted by rain, but barring this year, they have brought in great vintage after great vintage since 1997 and the latest, 2007, is no exception. So here are three reds, from estates that we follow, that are expressive of their locality and vintage and, for your diversion, a white from the north which I could not resist including for its appetising, fresh, qualities.
