Gran Bach Masia Gran Bach Cava is one of the real pinnacles of the Cava makers art. It is pale straw yellow with fine bubbles and balanced acidity. It has lovely aromas of apple, citrus blossom and citrus fruits complimented by a richer aroma of warm toast. The palate is fine and crisp with a delicate mouthfeel and finish. Though the Masia Bach estate in Penedes can trace its origins back to the 18th Century, its modern incarnations start in 1915 when it was purchased by Pere and Ramon Bach. Their first vintage was 1920 and the wines were garnering ever increasing praise. But when Ramon was killed in the Spanish Civil War, Pere was unable to continue and eventually sold the Estate in 1942. After several changes of owner, Masia Bach was bought by Codorniu in 1975 and thoroughly modernised.
