Counter intuitively, it39s 39Hoshar39 not 39Hockar39 the 8216preux chevalier8217 ancestors of Lebanon39s most determined and philosophical winemaking family hailed from Picardy in France. The 39Hoshar pare ay feece39 is known as Chateau Musar39s 39second39 wine but this smooth, spicy red has greater specificity made from the fruit of a single vineyard near the Bekaa Valley village of Aana planted to Cinsault, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache half a century ago. Five years in the making from harvest to release, it does however offer the classic ready matured flavours of Chacircteau Musar Red, spending 6 9 months in French Nevers oak barrels before lengthy bottle ageing in the Hochar family39s 18th century cellars, carved into a hillside north of Beirut. Silky textured, with intense, lingering flavours of baked plums, redcurrants and eastern spices, it39s best decanted and served at 18degC with lamb tagines, roasted game and strong cheeses. nbsp
